Quick Plug, the foundation
In 2004, Quick Plug started to develop stabilised substrate. The Xcel Plug® was the first invention, and was followed in quick succession by many more innovations. For instance, in 2006 the V-Xcel Plug® (for airy substrate crops) was launched at Horti Fair, followed a few years later by the plug for orchids (Xcellent Plug®).
Innovation proven in practice
The substrates produced by Quick Plug are unique and innovative. This is proven not just by our satisfied users, but also backed up by the decision of the jury members of the SME Innovation Top 100 (an initiative of Syntens). We are the only SME who has been awarded a top 100 rating four times!

The Netherlands and beyond
We produce and sell hundreds of millions of plugs annually. Our products are sold to users all over the world (see list of distributors). Cuttings and planting material in our plugs can easily cope with transport: even dry plugs can be rehydrated quickly and easily. This makes our plugs the ideal substrate for exporting plant material.
At the heart of the community
Quick Plug started in Poeldijk and is currently based in Monster. We are a true ‘Westland’ company: operating at the centre of the major concentration of greenhouse horticulture in the Netherlands. We feel a strong engagement with our surroundings and local community. We are therefore proud sponsors of Team Westland: a team of sporting cyclists who climb Europe’s highest mountains each year to raise money for cancer research.
